Operating a Placemakers Joint Venture is a challenging general management leadership role which requires a significant financial investment and should not be undertaken without proper consideration and a great deal of determination.
Our JV Operators are a diverse group, from a wide range of industry and professional backgrounds, but they all require a number of absolutely critical characteristics. Here are some of those key attributes:
- Being passionate about their customers, and their personal relationships in general.
- Being commercially savvy and interpersonally aware.
- Enjoying and managing commercial and employee relationships effectively.
- Having the energy and determination to get things done.
- A hands-on management style and a good fix on how the business is tracking
- The ability to cope well with the demands and significant responsibility of self-employment.
The Joint Venture Operator is the leader: the most important person at each store, and every store is a multi-million dollar turnover business.
The assessment and appointment of Operators is NOT a routine recruitment exercise. We aim to find competent business people who will not only enjoy the challenge and thrive in this industry, but who will also fit the PlaceMakers Joint Venture culture.
A Joint Venture Operator also needs to understand the risks involved in investing their own money in to a branch. Like any business investment, there is no guarantee of success and the prior performance of a branch is not an assurance of any future returns.
Candidate assessment is taken VERY seriously. A quality appointment can add significant value to the business and we are determined to make consistently successful appointment decisions.
While we have to ensure that candidates have these key attributes, because a PlaceMakers Joint Venture Operator involves a significant financial investment on their part we also need to ensure that they have the experience and/or financial capacity to make the investment that is required.
